My first job was delivering newspapers.
We had been distributing the morning paper since July 1979.
I’m often asked this question, but it’s a real job ^ ^
It’s not like the family business was a newsagent.

I was 11 years and 7 months old at the time and in the 6th grade, 35 years ago.

I didn’t like studying, didn’t enjoy school,
and wanted to work fast anyway.
So, one day, I applied for a job at a nearby newspaper store without consulting my parents.
I didn’t have any openings, but I went to ask to be hired myself.
As an elementary school student, I didn’t have a resume, just enthusiasm , so I got a reply on the spot that I was hired.

Here is the pay stub from that time.
It is my treasure.
I’m a sixth-grader who’s never been called anything but “Tette-chan” or “Yoshimoto-kun,” and I’m “Yoshimoto-dono” (lol).

I was paid 600 yen for the morning paper and 500 yen for the evening paper.
Even though it was early in the morning, it was an hour or so of work, so it turned out to be pretty good.
Naturally, there are no days off except for holidays.

They live in a large family of three households with eight people.
The house was also old and wooden, so it must have looked quite poor to his classmates.
In addition to that, my classmates made fun of me because I was selling newspapers, but I enjoyed my job so much that I didn’t mind it.

Of course I was happy that I was able to realize my desire to work quickly, but the best part was the fact that if I worked hard enough, I would be evaluated properly.
I haven’t met him yet, but if a child like me from those days came into my life, I would like him to experience the joy I got ^ ^
