On Sunday the 2nd, I went to Koya for the first time in a long time with my family to visit the grave of Mt. In Koyasan, there is a grave where his wife’s father, Masuo Shintani, is buried.
It is a large cemetery, which must have been about 20 pyeong, and was built by the Association for the Graves of the Five Families.
My father-in-law served for many years in the office of this consecration, and he made extraordinary efforts to erect the tomb. And, “When I die, make sure you put me in the grave of the Five Clans.
This was the will of my father-in-law.

The five tribes are Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Mongolia, and the Han Chinese, and this is the tomb of the Manchurian spirit who burned with the ideal of creating a royal and peaceful land of harmony between the five tribes. Therefore, the
The names of the Manchu emperor Aixin Jueluo Puyi and his brother Puyjie can also be seen there.

His father-in-law, Masuo Shintani, was an army officer in the 56th year of his military service and a graduate of the Army Accounting School. He served in the Manchukuo Army, but was interned in Siberia at the end of the war.
He returned home after three years in extreme cold weather. After that, he worked for a private company, served as president of a subsidiary, and retired at the age of 60.
He was 78 years old and passed away shortly after his death in his bed.

I got married the year my father-in-law reached the retirement age of 60, and I don’t know when he was in active service.
In any case, he was an erudite, military man with a strong backbone and a firm belief in his own ideas. He didn’t say too much, but when it came down to it, there was weight to his words.
I’ve learned a lot of things. Honestly, my life might have been a little different if I didn’t have this person as my father-in-law…………………………………….
He was a person who influenced the way I think and think.

When I was questioning the work of this investigation and becoming naïve, one word came to mind, “Matsutani-kun, shouldn’t a thief be a police officer…? . Also.
When my father-in-law had just retired, he once asked me, “Dad, maybe there was a way to stay with the company a little longer.
One word: “It’s my job to give way to my juniors when I get older. And that’s actually true, I didn’t do anything but volunteer stuff after I retired. Also.
He was a person who never complained or talked in a dark way. For example, whether it’s the story of my time in Siberia or the military, I can tell it in a funny way, but “it was hard.”
I’ve never heard a single word about it. My wife and children were able to visit my father-in-law’s grave for the first time in a long time, and I feel a little lighter on my shoulders somehow.

(JMAS)

When I returned home yesterday, I found that the “JMAS Letter” had arrived.
As soon as I read the article, an article by Ryoji Takayama (Director of JMAS), a friend of mine for 40 years, jumped out at me.

Photo panel exhibition (Ehime Branch): “International contribution by older men: Photo panel exhibition of mine and unexploded ordnance disposal activities in Cambodia
He also gave a lecture on “Cambodia Today” by Mr. Takayama. Results.
There were 1,870 visitors including the governor of the prefecture, and I was as happy as I was when I read about how it was a great success.

So, a little bit about him (Takayama) and the “Japan Landmine Disposal Support Group
I’d like to write about (JMAS).

Takayama and I are the same classmates in the Self-Defense Forces and we both studied at the night school. When I graduated from university, I left the Self-Defense Forces and worked for a private company.
He went into research, but remained in the Self-Defense Forces and became an officer, and by the time he retired at age 54 he had been promoted to second lieutenant colonel.
When he retired from the army, he was busy working on unexploded ordnance and mine disposal in Cambodia. so to speak.
This was the launch of the Japan Mine Action Society (JMAS). This is a totally volunteer activity, mainly by former members of the Self-Defense Forces.
The group was successfully launched with many supporters and supporters. Since then, he has been posted to Cambodia alone, working with the local staff to dispose of unexploded ordnance.
As of February of this year, 70.593 unexploded ordnance had been disposed of, he said.

Then he called me out of the blue about two weeks ago. I just got back from Cambodia….. My business was a private matter.
Later, he said, one person entered the former Pol Pot regime’s controlled area around the end of July this year, planning to use the local population to dispose of mines and unexploded ordnance.
He said that he had finished his negotiations with Pol Pot’s top officials and had returned to prepare for them. If you listen carefully, you will find that not only the safety but also the natural environment
It also seems to be unimaginable (hygiene issues, etc.). However, he didn’t seem to care about that at all.
He chattered away in a joyous, bouncy voice. Anyway, I’m bowled over…

The only thing I can do now is to give a little financial support as a member of JMAS, but
I’ve learned a lot from his dedication to making sober international contributions.

Last weekend, we held a training session for the Kansai Association of General Surveyors. As I have introduced in this blog, the training topics are the Research Business Act, the Personal Information Protection Act, and the issue of the family register of residents.

There were over 30 participants. We were very happy to have a large number of members and a few non-members participate in this event. Also, this time it was completely handmade.
We did not invite any external lecturers and some of the board members acted as lecturers.
It was good to see them earnestly working on their industry activities.
Although it’s only a small amount, I felt that all my activities and efforts have been rewarded, and I was able to make up my mind to “keep doing my best” in the future.

That’s why, yesterday, I met with Mr. Toshiyasu Higashida, vice president of the association, and Mr. Shinya Inoue, advisor.
The late Mr. Kenji Arimoto (who truly devoted his life to the industry’s activities and served for many years as the president of the Osaka Prefecture Research Industry Association)
I went to Kyoto to visit the grave of the The last time I visited the shrine, it was a very difficult time of the year because of the division of the association, but as soon as I stood in front of the grave, it was raining heavily.
I couldn’t help but run to the rest room, and then it started to rain suddenly, and when I stood in front of the grave again, it rained even more heavily. Go to the break room again.
I did this three times and finally finished visiting the grave. I was with Mr. Toshiyasu Higashida at that time, and we both said to each other, “Hey, Arichan is crying….
I have to do something about it…,” they said. Yesterday, however, the sunshine came through the cloudy valley, which is very much like early spring.
The three of us were able to take our time and visit the grave comfortably. This time, I thought, “You’re doing a great job…
I felt like that nihilistic Arichan smiled a little at me.

When I came home from playing golf yesterday (21st, a national holiday), I received a mail from my alma mater, Okijimae High School. As soon as I opened the package…
It was the 50th anniversary of the Okijimae High School. The old wooden schoolhouse and the school boat, now without a trace
The book is full of photos of my former teacher and nostalgic classmates (who went to school on a ship after leaving the island).
Each frame of my youth, which was so much fun, came back to life like a running lantern. I couldn’t let go of the fifty-year history even after I was in bed.
It was past one o’clock when I eventually fell asleep.

I graduated in March 1966 as a first-year student of Okijimae High School. The school was founded in 1955, but the
Initially, the school was opened as a night school of Oki High School, and in 1958, it became the first full-time school in Japan.

Oki-no-jima is a remote island in the Sea of Japan, about 60 km from the mainland, and can be divided into two main islands, Shimamae and Post-jimae.
Even between the islands, it was impossible to commute to school because it took more than an hour by boat. At that time, there were two high schools on the island (Oki High School and Oki Suisan High School), but all of them were located in the back of the island.
Children from before the island had no choice but to go to school on the mainland (Matsue) or after the island, but both were forced to live in lodgings away from their parents. For this reason.
Attracting a high school has been a long-standing wish for the people of the Shimamae area.
It was Mr. Yoshishige Murosaki, who served as the first headmaster of the branch school, who made an unremitting effort for this purpose.
He went to the prefectural government and the Ministry of Education with his rock-shattering belief that he would build a high school in front of the island no matter what. It has been 50 years since those efforts have paid off.
Dr. Murosaki passed away a few years ago, but I’m sure he would have liked to see this 50-year history…

Today, there is a training session of the Kansai Research Association.

The location is the Keihan Hotel in Tenmabashi. It will be from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a social gathering. The topics of discussion were the Detective Business Act, the Personal Information Protection Act, and
This is about the issue of the family register and residence certificate. The plan was to discuss the three major issues of concern since last year at once in a training session.

Each of them involves difficult problems and it is not possible to solve them all at once, but I hope they will be a stepping stone to break away from the silent industry.

There is an old unwritten rule in the research industry that investigators should never appear on the surface, and there is no vertical or horizontal connection between the two.
It was considered an industry that operated in secret. While these ideas seem to come from placing the industry’s origins in the ninjas of the Warring States period, the
In order to obtain and provide legitimate and correct information, it is necessary to raise the public awareness of the industry and provide the right information.
We will appeal to the public that it is an indispensable business that contributes to the prevention of crime and misconduct, and we will continue to do so.
I would like to work in an industry that I can be proud of in the society that is seen in developed countries in the West.
