先週土曜日、一通り朝の用事を済ませ、妻と一緒に、十番札所三室寺と十一番札所上醍醐寺をお参りして来ました。

「夜もすがら 月を三室戸 わけゆけば 宇治の川瀬に 立つは白波」、

三室戸寺（みむろとじ）は、京都府宇治市にある寺院です。寺伝では770年に光仁天皇の勅願で「御室戸寺」として創建されたのがはじまりとされています。

現在の西国三十三所巡礼では10番目のお寺ですが、西国三十三所巡礼がはじまったばかりの頃(1200年頃)は最後(33番目)のお寺でした。

三室戸寺の庭園は有名で、「あじさいのお寺」としても知られています。

 

とても綺麗な心和むお寺でした。

 

 

三室寺は風光明媚な庭園として知られ、特にアジサイが有名ですが、時季外れでアジサイを楽しむことは出来なかったけど、庭園の手入れは行き届き、心和ませる素晴らしい眺めでした。

 

十一番札所醍醐寺（世界文化遺産）

醍醐寺（だいごじ）は、京都市伏見区醍醐東大路町にある真言宗醍醐派総本山の寺院。山号を醍醐山（深雪山とも）と称し、本尊は薬師如来。上醍醐の准胝堂（じゅんていどう）は、西国三十三所観音霊場第11番札所で本尊は准胝観世音菩薩。京都市街の南東に広がる醍醐山（笠取山）に200万坪以上の広大な境内を持ち、国宝や重要文化財を含む約15万点の寺宝を所蔵する^[1]。豊臣秀吉による「醍醐の花見」が行われた地としても知られている。古都京都の文化財として世界遺産に登録されている。

  本当は上醍醐寺までいかなければならないが、何と、下醍醐から険しい山道を　登ること一時間半を要するという。いったん挑戦してみようかとは考えたが、妻に問うと、「とても・・」という顔付。しかも時間的なこともあり、帰路が下手をすると夕暮れにかかりそうという事もあり、『君子危うきに近寄らず』と、泣き泣き断念することにした。残念・・・。

山頂に並ぶ開山堂と如意輪堂

長らく西国三十三所第11番札所が存在し、西国一険しい札所として知られた。上り口にはかつて女人結界があったことから女人堂が置かれ、そこから険しい山間に入る。平安時代のままに残る国宝の薬師堂、醍醐寺の鎮守神である清瀧権現拝殿、准胝堂跡、五大堂などが立ち並ぶ。上醍醐には有名な「醍醐水」が今も湧き出ている他、醍醐山山頂（標高450m）には、如意輪堂と開山堂が並ぶ。山頂から笠取山に向かう途中に奥の院がある。

The Thirty-three Western States, Ten and Eleven

Last Saturday, after I finished my morning chores, my wife and I visited the tenth temple, Mimuroji, and the eleventh temple, Kami-Daigoji.

We visited Mimuroji Temple, the tenth temple, and Kami-Daigoji Temple, the eleventh temple.

Mimurotoji Temple is located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. According to the temple legend, the temple was originally built in 770 as Mimuroto-ji Temple at the request of Emperor Kounin.

Daigoji Temple, the 11th temple (World Cultural Heritage)

Daigoji Temple is located in Daigo Higashioji-cho, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, and is the head temple of the Daigo sect of Shingon Buddhism. The main deity of the temple is Yakushi Nyorai. The main deity of the temple is Yakushi Nyorai. Junteido in Kami-Daigo is the 11th temple of the 33 sacred places of Kannon in the western part of Japan, and the main deity is Juntei Kannon Bosatsu. It has a vast precinct of more than 2,000,000 tsubos on Mount Daigo (Mt. Kasatori), which stretches southeast of the city of Kyoto, and houses about 150,000 temple treasures including national treasures and important cultural assets [1]. It is also known as the place where “Hanami in Daigo” was held by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It is registered as a World Heritage Site as a cultural asset of the ancient capital Kyoto.

We have to go to Kami-Daigoji Temple, but it takes about an hour and a half to go up the steep mountain road from Shimo-Daigo. I thought about challenging it, but when I asked my wife about it, she looked at me as if it was very difficult. Moreover, due to the time constraints and the fact that it would take us until dusk to get back home, we cried and decided to give up, saying, “We must stay away from the danger of children. 九番札所「興福寺」をお参りしてきた。奈良は年に数回はおとずれているが、何故か興福寺は中学の修学旅行以来。何と5８年ぶりということになる。しかし、興福寺は西暦６００年代の古刹であり、何も変わってはいないはずだが、抱いていたイメージとはかなり違い、ビックリするくらい広大なお寺であった。

Saigoku Sanjusho Jubanzasho “Xingfuji Temple” (Saigoku Sanjusho)

I visited Kofuku-ji Temple, the ninth temple in Nara. I visit Nara several times a year, but I haven’t been to Kofuku-ji Temple since my school trip to junior high school. For some reason, I hadn’t been to Kofuku-ji Temple since my school trip to junior high school for the first time in 58 years. The temple is an ancient temple built in the 600s and nothing has changed, but it is quite different from the image I had of it, and it is surprisingly vast.

　11月23日、勤労感謝の日。我が家は何時ものように国旗を揚げた。ところが、街中で祭日（祝日）に国旗を揚げている家を見かけることは、とんと無くなった。内の町内でも２・３軒あるかないか。揚げていると、下手すると、「この家は右翼では・・？」などと思われかねない。

私は自分で右翼思想にかぶれている等と思った事もないし、事実、右翼的な思想や活動家とは一線を画している。ただ、旗日に国旗を掲げると、世間はどうみるか・・・と気にならなくはない。ただ、国が定めた祭日に国旗を揚げるのは当たり前のこと。何故か国旗を揚げると「凛」とした気持ちになる。今日は特別の日、祭日だから国旗を揚げようと思うだけのこと。

三島由紀夫が市谷駐屯地で檄を飛ばし、割腹自殺して50年。特に今月は命日月ということもあって、新聞や雑誌で盛んに三島由紀夫、三島文学を取り上げ論じており、興味深く目を通しているが、同調するところもあればついて行けないところもある。

あれっ！、こんなこと書くつもりでなかったのに・・・。書こうと思ったのは本当は以下のこと。

「勤労感謝の日」は、どんな日？。

普通には、“働くことに感謝する”ための日として知られている祝日ですが、当日こんなことを考えた。具体的には、「働けることに感謝する」日なのか、「働く人に感謝する」日なのか。ただ、「働くことに感謝する日」としたら、両方の意味を併せ持っており、その人の立場で感謝すれば、それはそれでいいのかなどと・・。

ところで何故11月23日が勤労感謝の日になったのか？。

実はこの日は、宮中の中で最も重要な祭祀として執り行われる「新嘗祭」と呼ばれる厳粛な行事で、天皇陛下が国民を代表して、新米を神様に奉納し、祝福する日であるが、この日を戦後、勤労感謝の日にしたのは、GHQの強い働きかけがあったようである。何故か・・・、戦前の天皇崇拝の色を少しでも薄くし、日本人の精神的バックボーンを崩すために行われた、日本弱体化政策の一環として行われたものである、との説もある。

うがったみかたなのであろうか？。

 

Labor Day, this and that

November 23, Labor Day. My family flew the national flag as usual. However, I don’t see any more houses flying the flag on national holidays in the city. There were only a couple of houses in our town. When you fly the flag, you might think, “Isn’t this a right-wing house? I have never thought of myself as being in love with right-wing ideology.

I have never thought of myself as being crazy about right-wing ideology, and in fact, I am distinctly different from right-wing ideology and activism. However, I do wonder what the public will think of me if I raise the national flag on Flag Day. However, it is natural to fly the national flag on a national holiday. For some reason, hoisting the national flag makes me feel “dignified”. Today is a special day, a national holiday, so we just want to fly the flag.

It has been 50 years since Yukio Mishima committed suicide by disembowelment after issuing a proclamation at the Ichigaya Garrison. Since this month is the anniversary of his death, the newspapers and magazines are actively discussing Mishima and Mishima’s literature, and I have been reading them with great interest.

Huh! But I didn’t mean to write this. What I was really going to write about is the following.

What kind of day is Labor Thanksgiving Day?

It’s a holiday usually known as a day to “be thankful for working,” but this is what I thought about that day. Specifically, is it a day to be thankful for working or a day to be thankful for working people? But if it is a day to be thankful for working, it has both meanings, and if we are thankful from the person’s point of view, that’s okay, etc…

By the way, why did November 23 become Labor Thanksgiving Day?

Actually, it is a solemn event called “Shintôsai”, the most important ritual in the Imperial Household, where the Emperor, on behalf of the people, offers new rice to God and blesses him. Some say it was done as a part of the policy to weaken Japan, which was carried out in order to diminish the pre-war emperor worship and destroy the spiritual backbone of the Japanese people.

Is this a pessimistic view?

今週月曜日、友人の高山良二（IMCCD理事長　https://www.imccd.org/about.html）が私の所属する船場ロータリークラブで卓話をしてもらった。

内容は、船場RCが平成29年、30周年記念事業の一環でカンボジアに小学校校舎を寄贈したが、その学校が今どのように使われているか、また、現地での地雷撤去の活動状況など、高山ならではの話であった。

話の中で、現地カンボジアとZOOMでつなぎ、小学校の先生やデマイナーと呼ばれる地雷撤去作業に直接タッチする人の話など、生の声を聞くこともでき、非常に有意義なものとなった。

Demining in Cambodia

This Monday, my friend Ryoji Takayama (IMCCD President https://www.imccd.org/about.html) gave a talk at my Rotary Club of Semba, where I belong.

He talked about how the school was used in Cambodia as part of the 30th anniversary project of Semba RC in 2017, and also talked about the demining activities in Cambodia, as only Takayama can.

In the course of the talk, we were connected with the local Cambodian people through ZOOM and were able to listen to the voices of the elementary school teachers and people who are directly involved in demining, which was very meaningful.

2年前に岡山に住む親戚のおじさんから長さ１メートル強の椎茸の木を6本頂いた。早速自宅の裏の殆ど日が当たらない場所に立てかけ、以後時々「早く目を出せ椎茸の芽」と水をやっていた。

すると、一昨日ふと見ると、おばけ椎茸がひょっこり顔を出していた。しまった・・・少し遅れたか？。ところがこの生シイタケ、バター焼きで食べると、何とも言えず美味しかった。

この後が大いに楽しみ・・・。

 

Shiitake Cultivation

Two years ago, my relative’s uncle in Okayama gave me six shiitake mushroom trees a little over one meter in length. I immediately put them up on the back of my house, where they hardly got any sunlight, and watered them from time to time, saying, “Hurry up and get your eyes out, shiitake mushrooms.

Then, the day before yesterday, I found a ghostly shiitake mushroom peeking out of the window. Oops … am I a little late? However, this fresh shiitake mushroom was so delicious when we ate it grilled in butter.

I’m looking forward to the next step.
