肺炎球菌予防接種
５０年ぶりの注射。
特に注射が嫌いでという訳では無いが、血液検査で注射針を打たれることは普通にあるが、予防や治療で注射を打たれた事がない。大雑把に５０年ぶりとしたが、実際は殆ど記憶にない。ありがたい事にそれくらい病気と縁が無かったという事なのでしょう。
今回も治療の為では無く、単なる予防接種。昨年１２月に満７０歳に成ったことから、役所から肺炎球菌予防接種の案内が来た。今までは予防接種など全く眼中に無く、インフルエンザも一回も受けたことが無い。ところが今回はその気になった。何故かと考えるに、高齢者の死因の多くが「肺炎」というのをよく耳にしており、それがフッと頭をよぎったのかも。
何れにしても、その気になって女房と一緒に近くの医院に申し込み、一昨日午前中に受診した。お医者さんの前に座り、問診の後直ぐに注射となった。その時にフッと出たのが、「５０年ぶりの注射ですわ・・」であった。先生もそれを聞くと、「そらよろしいな・・」と応じてくれた。
何故５０年ぶりと思ったか。実はこの注射が二の腕であったから、なのです。何時も行う血液検査は肘から先の表側からであり、シャツを肩までめくり上げて二の腕に注射をされたことが記憶に無った為、突然そう口から出たんだと思う。
ただこの注射、全く痛みは無く、見ていなければ注射されたかどうか判らないくらい。突然お医者さんに、「先生上手いね」と云いそうになったくらい。以後何も無く、会社で仕事をし、夕方７時頃家路に向かっている途中、腕に違和感を覚えた。アレッなにこれっという感じ。その後徐々に痛みが増してくる。そこでやっと、アッこの痛みは肺炎球菌のいたずらか。よく朝になっても未だ痛みがある。今朝はだいぶ良くなったが、それでも違和感は残っている。
それにしても肺炎球菌って凄いんだな。
My first injection in 50 years.
It’s not that I particularly dislike injections, but I’ve never been injected for prevention or treatment, although it’s common to get needles in blood tests. Roughly speaking, it’s been 50 years, but in reality, I hardly remember. Thankfully, I didn’t have much connection with the disease.
Again, not for treatment, but just for vaccination. Since I turned 70 years old last December, I received an invitation from the government office to get a pneumococcal vaccination. I’ve never had a vaccination and I’ve never had the flu. This time, however, I felt like it. The reason for this is that I often hear that pneumonia is the most common cause of death among the elderly, and this may have popped into my head.
In any case, I was so inspired that I applied to a nearby clinic with my wife and went to see her in the morning of the day before yesterday. I sat in front of the doctor and immediately after the questioning it became an injection. It was at that moment that I suddenly thought, “It’s the first injection in 50 years…”. When he heard that, he responded with, “That’s good…
Why do I think it’s been 50 years? In fact, it was because this injection was in the second arm. I think that’s what came out of my mouth all of a sudden because I don’t remember being shot in the arm with my shirt tipped up to my shoulder.
However, this injection is not painful at all, and if you don’t look at it, you don’t know if it was injected or not. I almost said to the doctor, “You’re a good doctor,” all of a sudden. After that, nothing happened, I worked at the company, and I felt a discomfort in my arm when I was going home around 7:00 in the evening. It’s like this. Then the pain gradually increases. So, finally, this pain is a pneumococcal prank. Often, in the morning, I still feel the pain. I felt much better this morning, but I still felt uncomfortable.
The pneumococcal bacteria are amazing, aren’t they?
