八代の花火大会と阿蘇観光
先週末、土日の1泊2日で熊本へ行ってきた。
実は、熊本地震を機に八代南ロータリーと、私が所属する船場ロータリーが交流を持つようになり、今回、第３１回八代花火大会にお招きを受けた。
八代の花火は競技会形式で全国から30社の花火士が、5号玉、10号玉、15号玉と一定の条件下で打ち上げ、その技量を競うものであったが、ラジオ放送の解説付きで観ることができ、只単に”タマヤー”ではなく、楽しく興味深く観ることが出来た。見物客は何と30万人とか、とにかく凄い人出であった。
翌日は、八代南ロータリーのメンバーさんが阿蘇観光に連れて行ってくれた。阿蘇山の雄大さには、圧倒される思いであったが、熊本地震の爪跡があちこちに見られた。また、長閑で広大な農村地区のあちこちに、仮設住宅が建ち並んでおり、地震のすさまじさと復興の大変さが、肌身に感じられるものであった。

Last weekend, I went to Kumamoto for one night and two days on Saturday and Sunday.
In fact, I was invited to participate in the 31st Yatsushiro Fireworks Festival because of the exchange between Yatsushiro Minami Rotary and Semba Rotary, to which I belong.
The Yatsushiro fireworks competition was held in the form of a competition in which fireworkers from 30 companies from all over the country competed with each other in the form of No. 5, No. 10 and No. 15 fireworks under certain conditions. There were a whopping 300,000 visitors.
The next day, a member of Yatsushiro South Rotary took us on a sightseeing tour of Aso. I was overwhelmed by the grandeur of Mt. Aso, but I could see traces of the Kumamoto earthquake here and there. In addition, temporary houses were lined up here and there in the long, quiet and vast rural area, and I could feel firsthand the severity of the earthquake and the difficulty of reconstruction.
