ジェットで隠岐へ

会長日記2008/07/22

先々週突然田舎の前町長（現、隠岐観光?社長）から電話、「松谷さん、突然のお願いなんですが７月１８日のジェット機初飛行の搭乗者が余りにも少ないので何とか協力願えませんでしょうか・・、」、「また突然の話ですね・・」、「とにかく大阪へ行きますから、詳細はその時に・・」、と云う事で、隠岐観光の社長が翌々日来社。詳細は次の通り。
隠岐へのジェット機就航は７月１８日から８月末までの４０日間、期間限定による就航で、しかも搭乗率が８０％を切ると翌年は飛ばないと云う厳しいもの。
その為、８０％の搭乗者率確保は町を上げての至上命題である。ところが７月１９・２０・２１が連休で、この３日間は何とかなるが初便の１８日がいまのところ３０％の予約しかない。そこで急遽、「隠岐の観光大使に応援を・・」となった様である。
余りにも急な話。出郷者に里帰りを諭し、ジェット機利用をお願いして欲しいとの意向であったが、それは一寸。そこで、所属する船場ロータリークラブのメンバーに「私の故郷、隠岐へ」と声を掛けたところ、「一度行って見たいと思っていた・・・」と云う連中が直ぐに８名集まり、私を含む９名で急遽隠岐ツアー
を企画。１８・１９・２０日の２泊３日で隠岐ノ島へ行ってきた。

18日、隠岐空港着。今年の初便客を、幼稚園児が踊りで歓迎してくれた。

Two weeks ago, I got a phone call from the former mayor of a rural town (now the president of Oki tourism), who said, “Mr. Matsutani, can you please help us with the first flight of the jet on July 18? He said, “Mr. Matsutani, this is a sudden request, but the number of passengers for the first flight of the jet on July 18th is too small, could you please cooperate somehow? The details are as follows.
The flight to Oki is a limited period of 40 days from July 18 to the end of August, and if the boarding rate is less than 80%, the jet will not fly in the next year.
Therefore, securing an 80% passenger rate is a matter of utmost importance to the town as a whole. However, July 19, 20, and 21 are consecutive holidays, so we can manage these three days, but the first flight, on July 18, is only 30% reserved at the moment. That’s why they suddenly decided to “support the Oki tourism ambassador”.
It’s too sudden. It was his intention to encourage people from his hometown to return to their hometown and ask them to take a jet plane, but that’s not quite right. When I asked the members of the Funaba Rotary Club to go to Oki, my hometown, they said, “I’ve been wanting to go there once…,” and 8 people got together at once, and 9 people including me hurriedly went on an Oki tour.
We went to Oki-no-jima Island in 18, 19 and 20 days and nights.
